I wanted to make the most of the early ’60s proportions and relatively high ceilings, in an uncomplicated way.
To create a sense of expansiveness I took down walls and removed doors, extending the openings to ceiling height.
My aim was to enjoy the view from wherever I stood in the flat. An internal wall between the bedroom and sitting room
was replaced with steel-framed glass doors so the enormous French linen-covered bed would always be on display.
