‘ I find beauty in the smallest detail’
I've always been drawn to simple living, and the way that my surroundings reflect this is hugely important to me. My early career as an art director
at magazines including Australian Vogue, set me on a path where I could make aesthetics the focus of my professional life too. At The World of Interiors magazine in London,I was surrounded by images of the most beautiful properties, and while their decorative influences were diverse and manifold,
I was always drawn to the minimal.
‘I seek simplicity’
I love that by keeping things simple you can enhance all the available light and space in a property.
A particularly ambitious expression of this desire for simplicity was the creation of my 2,500 sq ft apartment in east London, which I later sold to architect Dame Zaha Hadid. With its three terraces, it was a huge project and I designed it exactly the way in which I like to live, with natural light flooding the clutter-free space.
My aim is to create beauty in everything I do, whether it’s cooking a meal for friends, filming, taking a photograph or creating an interior with the power to inspire tranquillity and peace. Creating nurturing spaces is my passion.
‘Light makes my spirit soar’
I am inspired by Tadao Ando, John Pawson, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe,
Georgia O’Keeffe and Jacqueline Morabito.
I am the author of two books – Sensual Living explores the way the senses can come together to create beautiful interiors, and My Greek Island Home is a documentation of village life on the Greek Island of Lesvos where I spend a lot of my time.
