My guide to the Greek islands: Stelios Ceramics

In 2016 I took House & Garden on a tour of one of my favourite Greek island destinations, Stelios Ceramics.

Situated on the north-east coast of Lesvos, around a kilometre from the entrance to the town
of Manatamados, is the workshop of Stelios Stamatis.

Stelios is a professional clay potter and ceramicist. Using age-old methods, he produces household items
such as cups, plates, pitchers and pots. Passionate about tradition, the ceramicist is striving to keep
this ancient art-form alive. Stelios is very welcoming and will happily show you his workshop and ceramics.

I recently bought some earthen coloured plates that are decorated with handpainted white flowers.
They sit alongside the white plates in an original plate rack in my Greek Island kitchen.
